Arisfor ToughDeck FR can be applied to new or existing substrates by brush, roller, trowel, squeegee, broom or spray. ToughDeck FR can resurface balconies, walkways, stairs, pool decks, curbs, sidewalks, patios, decks, and floors. ToughDeck FR is easy to apply and dries to the touch within 2-4 hours. There are many advantages and features that make ToughDeck FR a superior product: ToughDeck FR is moisture permeable, provides a slip-resistant surface and protects against water intrusion. ToughDeck FR has zero VOC content, meets LEED point criteria, and is fire resistant.

SURFACE PREPARATION

All surfaces that are to be coated with Arisfor ToughDeck FR must be sound and free from any bond obstructing substances such as loose debris, grease, oil, and any other contaminants or impeding materials. Sweep away any standing water from the application site. Surface and ambient temperature required to be 40˚F (5˚C) and rising.

MIXING

Always pour Arisfor Bond into the mixing container first. Gradually add cementitious component and mix with a slow speed drill (400-600 rpm) and high viscosity mixing paddle. Mix ratios range from 4 quarts of Arisfor Bond to achieve trowel grade consistency and up to 6 quarts of Arisfor Bond for a slurry consistency for each 50 lb. bag. Mix a minimum of 3-5 minutes to achieve a homogeneous lump-free blend. Let mixture rest for 5-8 minutes prior to application. Remix before beginning application. To keep color consistency, the same mix ratios should be used when mixing additional bags. DO NOT MIX WITH WATER.

APPLICATION

Arisfor ToughDeck FR may be applied by brush, roller, trowel, squeegee, Magic Trowel, or spray. Apply one layer of ToughDeck FR to the substrate, working from the center to the edges, while the mixture is still wet. The base material should be approximately 1/16” to 1/8” thick. Maybe back in service to pedestrian traffic in 2-4 hours. Clean tools with water before product permanently adheres. Floors, metal, concrete, wood, tile or any surface not intended to be coated, should be wiped clean using a wet cloth within minutes of application to avoid permanent adhesion.

LIMITATIONS

Moving cracks may reflect in the finished product
Do not apply over expansion joints
Product working time is approximately 45 minutes at 70°F (21°C)

HELPFUL TIPS

  • Start in the middle of the project and work outward
  • Clean tools periodically with clean water throughout application process & clean fully at the end
  • When troweling, keep tools coated with the liquid bond.
  • A spray bottle of the liquid bond is recommended. If material sets rapidly, spray on liquid bond to refresh wet material to achieve the desired finish.
